Co-Founder of Private Equity Firm Earned $142.5 Million in 2016

Leon Black, the co-founder and Chief Executive of private equity firm Apollo Global Management LLC collected $142.5 million in dividends, gains from the firm’s investments and renumeration for 2016. The majority of his earnings came from the dividends paid on his 92.7 million shares of Apollo.

The firm paid out $1.42 a share, an increase from $1.38 last year. This tallied to a $131.7 million payout for the CEO in 2016.  Firms such as KKR & Co and Blackstone Group compensates them largely on the firms’ ability to make money for their investors. Leon Black made the same $100,000 per annum salary in 2016 since its public offering in 2011.
