Leonardo Da Vinci’s Portrait of Christ Sold for $450 Million at Christie’s Auction

Leonardo da Vinci’s Portrait of Christ “Salvator Mundi” (Saviour of the World), had been sold a price of $450 million at a Christie’s auction.

It is the most expensive painting ever sold at an auction, which lasted for less than 18 minutes.  The successful bidder had placed the winning bid over the phone with the final price at $450,312,500.

There are fewer than 20 paintings by Leonardo da Vinci.  All of the collection are in museum except for “Salvator Mundi” (Saviour of the World).
