Laboureur dans un champ by Vincent van Gogh was sold for $81,312,500 (£62,118,029) in a Christie’s auction. The painting was completed in the late summer of 1889 at Saint-Rémy, the year before Van Gogh’s death.

The record price for a work by Van Gogh stands at $82,500,000, which was paid for Portrait du Dr. Gachet (1890) at Christie’s in May 1990.
