Early 1964 Asterix Comic Book Cover Sold for $1.7 Million

An early Asterix comic book cover had been sold for more than $1.7 million (EUR 1.4 million).  The cover is the 1864 comic Asterix and the Banquet (Le Tour de Gaule in French), which was signed by Albert Uderzo and Rene Goscinny, who created the popular Asterix comic series.

Asterix series first appeared in the Franco-Belgian comics magazine Pilote on 29th October 1959, and is one of the most popular Franco-Belgian comics in the world.
