KKR Raises $9.3 Billion for Biggest Asian Private Fund
KKR & Co. has raised $9.3 billion for its third Asia fund, making it the biggest ever pool by a private equity firm in the region. With the latest fund, KKR’s private equity business has $68 billion in assets worldwide. KKR raised $4 billion for its first Pan-Asian fund in 2007 and $6 billion in 2013.

The fund’s investors include public pensions, sovereign wealth funds and family offices. KKR has been particularly busy with large deals in Japan in recent months, announcing a $2.3 billion acquisition for Hitachi Ltd’s chip-making equipment and video solution unit in April and $1.3 billion deal for power tools firm Hitachi Koki Co Ltd in January.
