Jean-Michel Basquiat Canvas to Sell for Record $60 Million
Sotheby’s New York is predicting the Jean-Michel Basquiat may sell for $60 million at New York’s May auctions. The art pierce is termed as Untitled and it was unseen since it last appeared on the market in May 1984. The canvas is populated with a range of Basquiat’s greatest icons: dominated by the complexly detailed anatomical head, the three-pointed crown, and all-over scrawled typography.
“If it were to sell for $60 million, it would represent roughly 300,000% on investment.”
It was last sold at an auction in 1984 for just $19,000. If it were to sell for $60 million, it would represent roughly 300,000% on investment.
