Bluefin Tuna Sells for $632,000
A Japanese sushi chain boss has bid 74.2 million yen ($632,000) for a 212 kilogram bluefin tuna in the last auction at current site of Tokyo’s Tsukiji market. Japanese are the biggest consumers of the bluefin tuna and increasing consumption of sushi has boosted demand as experts warn the species could be extinct.

The bid for the prized bluefin tuna was the second highest ever recorded. The highest ever bid for the bluefin tuna was recorded in 2013 at 155.4 million yen.
